Policy Document of UOS Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities
Introduction
UOS Journal of Social Sciences & Humanities is a bi-annual refereed academic journal published by the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Sargodha. It is a scholarly publication containing provocative, thoughtful and well- researched writings with an educated discerning readership in mind. We will prefer articles that would challenge the conventional academic or policy wisdom. The journal is meant to encompass national as well as regional and international policy issues. The journal is also meant to be a source of feedback for policy makers as well as for creative scholars and thinkers.
Aim and Scope
UOS Journal of Social Sciences & Humanities (UOSJSSH) is a multidisciplinary biannual refereed journal. UOSJSSH is an official publication of university of Sargodha and is published under the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Sargodha, Pakistan. It publishes original qualitative and quantitative research articles / review articles / research reports and book reviews related to various fields of Social Sciences and Humanities. The Journal has an effective system of article submission overseen by the well qualified editorial team. UOSJSSH follows guideline provided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). We are accepting high-quality articles to publish in the fields of International Relations, Political Science, History, Sociology, Social Work, Education, Media Studies, English and Library Sciences.
Guidelines for Reviewers
Blind peer review plays an important role to improve the quality of research papers. Following guidelines for reviewers are recommended while reviewing the articles:
A reviewer should judge, assess and evaluate the weaknesses and strengths of the paper(s) sent to him/her. Reviewers must keep all the information of the paper(s) confidential and will not share with anyone. Reviewers must avoid criticism on social, political and religious basis. Criticism must be according to academic and technical grounds. Reviewers are encouraged to give their feedback concisely, objectively, relevantly and constructively to improve the quality of manuscripts. If reviewer(s) seek material copied from any other source without citation they should inform the editor of the journal with relevant citations and references.
Originality of the Manuscripts
UOS Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities (UOSJSSH) accepts and considers manuscripts having following features:
• Content of the article should be original material produced by the author(s).
• Article should not be submitted for publishing elsewhere or in any other journal.
• Author(s) have to provide after signing an undertaking that material of the article is not copied.
• For any kind of plagiarism in the manuscript, the author(s) will be considered sole responsible.
• In case of any violation of policy rules, the Editor reserves the right to take legal action accordingly.
Guidelines for Authors
To submit an article and book review, authors are advised to follow these general guidelines:
1. Article must be typed double-spaced;
2. We prefer articles that are 5000 to 6000 words;
3. Manuscripts must be on 4A size with at least 1.5 cm margins on all sides;
4. Authors are encouraged to prepare manuscript in Times New Roman font using a font size of 12;
5. Title shall be in a font size of 14, bold face capitals;
6. All headings in the manuscript shall be in font size 12, bold face capitals;
7. Subheadings in each section shall be in font size 12, bold face lower case;
8. Headings will be appreciated to help reader follow your argument;
9. Standard International Units shall be used throughout the text;
10. Abbreviations should be written within brackets after spelling the acronym in full on first use, e.g., Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN). Subsequently, only ASEAN should be used without brackets.
11. British-spelling should be used;
12. Authors should not identify themselves anywhere in the manuscript;
13. Please make sure to include a cover letter with your complete contact information.
Abstract
An abstract of approximately 250 words should be enriched in terms of its contents. It must present the objective of the study, the main findings and principal conclusions. Abbreviations and references should be avoided in it.
General Guidelines for Citation
References should be given on the APA Manual style. The following examples are cited for guidance:
Reference to a Book: Zautra, A. (2006). Emotions, Stress and Health. New York: Oxford University Press.
Reference to Journal: McGill, K. (2006). Reading the Valley: Performance as rhetoric of Dimension, Text and Performance Quarterly, 26 (4), 389-404.
Reference to Newspaper Article: Maleeha Lodhi. (2009, November 3). South Waziristan: Risks and Opportunity. The News, p.6.
Reference to Internet Source: Pelling, N. (2002, May 5). The use of technology in career counseling. Journal of Technology in counselin (2). Retrieved from http://itc.colstste.edu/pelling.htm
Authors are responsible for accuracy of facts and citations.
Book Review
Scholars are required to submit book review up to 1000 words. Book review shall be provided in both soft and hard copies, along with their brief introduction, in MS Word format to the Editor.
